Well, its been a month, and so far we've done two 30% water changes. After adding ZERO salt at each water change, we have started to see growth from our straggly and pathetic plants, as well as new leaves from some bulbs we didnt even know were in the substrate!!! I have a feeling salt may have been a huge contributing factor to the poor welfare of the plants.
So I have high hopes for the progress of the tank once we finally get our funding. We have some good prospects from one of the drug company sponsors, so hopefully we'll get all the $$ we need.
Also, does anyone have a recommendation for a new hood? There is no glass covering between the tank and the lights, and a lot of corrosion has occurred as a result. Two of my committee members have been electrocuted during tank cleaning, and the whole thing is a fire hazard! Any ideas would be appreciated.
