Hi everyone,
We had a discussion about the good luck bamboo in the tank. Since they are raised in water, they can be put possibly in the tank. Well one person on the list, as the IFS or as I call it the pet store, if it was possible to use this plant in the tank. Well they said, what are you crazy it will harm the tank. Well does anyone know if this is true. Would it hurt the tank? :dunno:
I put a few of them in the corner of the tank yesterday. Today is thurs and no problem yet. Does this plant contain a poison that I do not know about?? It is just a plant who knows. Let me know asap if there is a problem. Or maybe the pet store wanted to sell them plants they had on hand. Anyway thanks, Lynda

I don't think it's going to poison a tank, but I also don't think they're meant to be grown submersed. My understanding is they tend to get sickly after a month or so and then die.

I kept one on my desk in 1" of water for 2 years though. Easiest plant ever.

hi modernhamlet
I guess I will take it out before it gets sickly. It was doing great in my pot with water, fish love to swim through it. I may just let it sit in the tank until it looks like it may be getting upset by being in the water, then I will remove it. Well at least until I can find plants the fish do not eat. I have vegetarian fish I think. Or at least I need to give them a salad everyday, just kidding Thanks Lynda

I left my lucky bamboo in my tank for about 3 months and they were doing great and even grew a bit, then I took it out of the water and the leaves dried up and the whole plant died :( If I would've left in the water any longer it would've probably rotted away slowly in the water. It's just not an aquarium plant.

thanks for the above information. Guess I have to take it out and try Java moss and keep on buying plants so I can feed my fish. Again, thanks Lynda
