I have a few preg platys here, going by pics ive seen will be ready very soon - i bought this plant yesterday, would this combined with some java moss be suitable for fry? The preg fish certainly seem to like it! (do i need to put a layer of sand in to help it grow?)

That's a cabomba and it grows like mad! Yes it's brilliant for fry and for shelter while the female is actually dropping her fry! I used to have one and it took over my tank so just keep trimming it back a little bit when i get's really big. The cabomba i used to have was smaller than that when i got it but it was taking over half my 2ft tank in about 2 months. I just clipped it back every month.
