Good Fish Choice?

i agree with BigC, I don't like going by these "guidelines" as they should be different for every person, ever tank, every filter etc etc, but if i had to have a guideline then personally i would happily go up to 2" per gallon with small, relatively slim bodied fish, like tetras.

However, i personally think 12g is on the small side for danios, some may be small but they need alot of room to swim imho.

For all of you who think a 24" long is not enough for danios, what do you suggest for an appropriate tank size? :)

Great looking tank BigC. The reason I asked about that many fish in a 12 gallon tank wasn't so much to say it couldn't be done but more to the point that this is a total newbie and I don't think he is ready for such a heavy stocking load until he is more experienced and has a handle on how a good maintenance schedule should be carried out. I also doubt that his tank will be anywhere nearly as heavily planted as yours. With the plants you have, most likely, you could get by without a filter as the plants will probably use all the ammonia in it's original state negating the need for nitrifying bacteria.

As for the danios, I think 30" is the minimum but of course, that is just personal opinion.
