good filter type

hi

my old filter is bout to ....... itself i think ive had to fix cause it stoped working, not turning the water over, 4 times in one week , so i think its seen better days, anyway i think i might just replace it be4 something happens and wanted to no what type of filter is better a power filter or and under gravel filter, extrnal filter aint an option

any options??
