First, the names OohFeeshy. Secondly its she. Thirdly, if my name was 'Worldfishexpert' by no means means its true, does it? Um, no. It might be cycled now, but it wasn't originally, therefore when you put most of them in the tank it was uncycled. Fourthly, of course tetras count to stocking levels, and the inch per gallon thingy is a load of rubbish, really. 11 tetras, some poop machinea (livebearers, and they also churn out fry) and a catfish bought on a whim don't make for a good tank. And you might like to write in full sentences, its hard deciphering what on earth your talking about.

i read they do in several places on the net and also a book.

Tetrafan, I dont know where you got this idea that tetras don't count towards the inch/gallon rule.

The inch/gallon rule (which admittedly has its limitations) is specifically designed for slimbodied fish such as tetras, guppies etc.

It's the other ones, the heavybodied or the heavy waste producers, that are not covered by the inch/gallon rule.
