I just learned yesterday that there was a Petco about 8 miles from where I work so I decided to ride down at lunch today. This is the only one in Charlotte, NC. There regular tanks looked pretty good. Not spotless, but no dead or even struggling fish (they even have saltwater). I walked into their display and the lady was changing the water in the betta cups. She said they did it every 3 days. These were 16 oz cups and they were FULL of water. The bettas had room to actually swim rather than lay on the bottom of the cups. You could also see them very well to tell what they looked like. It's still not a full tank to themselves but a lot better than most places. They were all so pretty, it was hard to walk out without buying any.

I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE to hear stories like this.
PetCo around here keeps their fishies in little 8 oz cups and they're never full.

Hi fives to you for finding a great store!
They also must know what they're doing and have some good knowledgable people in the store if they're selling salwaters there! NICE! :D

They sure had some pretty ones too, a couple kind of like Seventies, our psychodelic betta.

A store like that would make it REALLY hard for me not to own several bettas. REALLY hard  .
I already own 4, and that's from simply going to all the stores that don't take care of their bettas so of the poor pitiful ones, I choose the worst one. Imagine if I had gorgeous flowing flaring ones to choose! Yikes.

heh

That is exactly why I keep going back to places with bettas in bad shape, though - ya know? To take the ones home that nobody else is probably going to want.

I got really lucky with the 2 I got from Walmart last wee. Clark (deep red and white) is one of the prettiest ones I've ever seen and Ty is pretty also (kind of turquoise and red). I finally got some decent photos which will post tinight.

Yeah, I've seen a few beauties at WM here, too, on rare occasion. I passed up a GORGEOUS copper colored one with teal tips on his fins to get Jasper. Jasper was gray. period. NO color to him whatsoever. The copper boy, however, was very healthy and had full finnage. He probably sold the same day as I saw him - he was so very pretty.

I think all my boys are gorgeous just because of everything they've been through in their lives. :)

If only they could talk.... imagine the stories they'd have to tell.
