Gonna Be Sand

The way i did it was i used a small bucket, filed the bucked 1/3 up, filled it with water and this bubble mess forms on the top of the water (silt?). I then pour the water out and then fill, then out, fill then out... get the point here. just did it like 5 times per bucket, then more sand and repeat... mite take a few buckets and a bit of time but u will get there

That's the sand I bought and it didn't take very long to clean it at all!

I cleaned it the same way as Kev did above, don't worry about the foam that first appears as this goes away once you've cleaned it well!

Good Luck :)

cool think ill go for this 1 then will this be enough for a 3ft tank or will i have spare

Hi kris-b- :)

I clean my play sand in a dishpan, doing only a few cupfuls at a time. I've found that it's easier to clean several small batches than by doing it all at once. It's worth the effort to do a good job at the sink rather than have any silt get into the tank. Eventually the filter will clear it out, but then you have to clean the filter and it could get into the impeller and ruin that as well.

I think you will be very happy with the results. :D

Thats the way I did it. Ive done it 2 times now and it worked great both times.

how many bags did you use for your tank mines a 28 USgallon 23Uk gallon tank 36"x12"x15"

I used one 10kg bag of play sand for my 45g tank and the one in argos is 15kg so it should be more than enough :)

cool wont hav to change my filter will i i got a fluval black one on the side of my tank

As long as you place it high enough on the side that it doesn't suck the sand up you should be ok. Otherwise you will just need to make sure the sand isn't clogging it up.
