Hi,

My friend has my old aqua one and has goldfish in it it is very colourful and my daughter wants the same...
I thought goldfish got too big but he said these were different they are bubble eyed but fancy and two beautiful yellow ones too.
I an aquiring a small tank and wondered if 32 by 15 by 15 which would give you 31 gallons would be any good.

I had thought of a betta for my small 11 litre but these were quite colourful and as they had than one, I have always thought no.

Just make sure you have a decent filter and you should be ok with 2 fancy goldfish in that setup. Common goldfish are more active and better swimmers and would benefit from a longer tank.

Even with fancy goldfish, there is a great deal of variation between how large certain varieties grow to- fantail goldfish can grow to 12inches+ long, while bubble eye goldfish usually max out at about 5-6 inches long; the "20gals for the first goldfish and 10gallons for every one after that" is basically a rule of thumb or guide like the "1inch of fish per gallon" rule of thumb etc, and is not a perfect "rule" as it does not apply to every fancy goldfish.

Non-fancy goldfish like comets and commons can grow to 15inches+, and need at least a 75gallon long tank minimum for just one of these large active goldfish- they tend to fair better in ponds either way though.

What sort of goldfish are you interested in keeping? The link below lists many varieties of goldfish with lots of pics;

:thumbs: .

I think its wait and see how long she goes on about it for.

I am happy with my tropical set up the tank is really for the few hours they are out the big tank whilst the tank is being secured.

I cannot have a pond or would have one, my boy would lie in it so no go area and I know nets etc keep cats away etc but hes fifteen and growing so I think n o goldfish etc.

If I ever get an outside pond I like those that grow too big anyways.
