Try turning the lights off. Or, put in a heater, and use florescent lights.

well that would seem a bit hot for them. as a rough guide they are best kept at 64-72F. though they can survive down to 41F. getting much above 72F may well lead to infections, both fungal and bacterial. but at the higher temps, it is often lack of oxygen that causes problems for the fish. water at higher temperatures, has a reduced ability to hold O2!
You can always adopt that algae eating catfish(at least I think it's a catfish).

freeze several 500ml pop bottles, remember to fill them only 3/4 full. drop one in the tank, and keeping a close eye on the temp. add another when the first one is melted. this is a fantastic, and cheap way to control excessiv heat. you could also add a small fan to cool the water surface, no need to go over the top, a small 12v car one will do, you will need a transformer though.my fancy goldfish tank gets pretty warm just by the lights in the hood. how warm can it safely be? it stays around 78F
The heater will produce the heat that the fish need. While the lights provide the light.
And if you get a light of a different watt type, it can actually prevent algae growth. Just don't remember what kind.
