I have goldfish and I was wondering which fish besides Goldfish go well with them. I was told that Danios or Tetras would work. I know that they are both schooling fish so how many would I need? I appreciate any help. I want to make my tank more interesting.

goldfish are coldwater fish, not tropical. so you really can't keep them with tropical fish as their temperature requirements are different.

Danios can be kept with smaller goldfish as they prefer the typical room temperatures that a goldfish tank would be.

TBH i wouldn't keep any fish with goldfish, especially smaller fish has they'll probably end up being eaten when the goldfish gets bigger...
How big is your tank and how many goldfish do you have?

And just a note on temperature, the comfort zone of goldfish is huge, and tropical temps (up to about 25) are fine and dandy provided theres enough oxygenation. The survivability range for goldfish is even larger, but you wouldn't want to keep them like that long term.

So for someone like me whos goldfish tank is and has been 24c for the past five years, what do you suggest?

There are huge numbers of fish that can be kept with small goldfish. Goldfish do well as warm as about 24C which is a good band for many of the fish we consider tropicals. Among the easiest to care for among the eligible cooler water fish are goodeids of many species, white cloud mountain minnows and several others like many of the cories. The down side to combining a small goldfish with these other rather small fish is that small goldfish become big goldfish and when they do the other fish often become food.
