Hiya,
we bought my friend 3 gold fish the other day and a bowl, the gold fish is swimming sideways and upside down, at the moment its floating at the top side ways then swims down if its disturbed.

its a 10litre bowl with no air pump or filter,
she changes a cup of water once a week,
she does not dichlorenate the water,

do you lot have any advice? i have taken the fish out of the tank and put it in a separate bowl for isolation,

Help

Sorry the fish is dying probably from ammonia poisong.
First goldfish alone needs a 20 gallon tank, then 10 gallon for every other goldfish added.
They need excellent filters as they are massive waste producers.
If you don't get a bigger tank fast the fish are all going to die, sorry.

That'd probably be why they're dying.

The water needs to be de-chlorinated to start with, or no good bacteria will grow because it's being killed by chlorine. But then there's no filter for it to grow in anyway.

I don't know about goldfish or bowls, but I'd imagine they need good-quality water like any other fish.

U cant keep goldfish in bowls, they produce alot of waste and and need a high filtration to be able to get rid of the waste.

filter and pump should be in all fish tanks i say thats the 1st thing and a bigger tank and water treatments to help the tap water safer for the gold fish

I agree with the others here, the reason why the goldfish are dying is because they are in too smaller accomodation (they need a tank of at least 20gallons, not a bowl of 10litres) and because there is no filtration, so they are being poisened on a daily basis by their own excrement in the tank which is causing toxic ammonia and nitrites levels to rocket.
Unless your friend changes the set up she is keeping them in, the goldfish are destined to die a young and tramatic death.
She should make every effort to get a larger tank for them as soon as posible- in the mean time though, she can keep the goldfish healthier and alive longer by doing 100% daily water changes with dechlorinator/water conditioner to deal with the water quality problems which are poisening the goldfish, and adding an air stone/bubble machine to help improve the oxygen content of the water to help ease their condition.

there is also a possibility of swim bladder, which will cause the fish to swim funny. My fish had this from the shop I brought it from, and died as soon as I started treating it

Also there is no filter to remove ammonia so it can be transfered to blah blah.So it actully makes me feel that i'm not doing a water change..
