My goldfish has had a spot on his side for a bit now and I thought i was just a tumour as this is what it looks like. I have had him for 4 years. He is a common goldfish. However tonight when I looked at him I noticed this brown line. He acts like a healthy normal goldfish! He eats well still too still!! Here are some pictures below! Could it just be a tumour growing?

How many gallons or litres is the tank.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia,nitrite,nitrate,and ph.
Can see some white patches on the goldfish are they fluffy.
Anys signs of the fish flicking and rubbing.

55 gallon tank (and yes I know that commons get big, he will be going to a pond)

How many fish and which type.
At this moment it's just him.

Can see some white patches on the goldfish are they fluffy.
No, they are just where he loss a scale or two.

Anys signs of the fish flicking and rubbing.
About 2 months ago he was trying to rub on the stones when he was in a 20gallon but that was it. He has not done any rubbing or flicking for the past month and a half.

He does go to the bathroom normal and everything, he also eats fine. It's like he's normal but I'm just wondering what this thing is, if it's anything or just he's getting his black coloring that he had back once when he was a baby.

Also could it just be another scale growing back under another and form wrong??

I have been having problems with ammonia being a bit high though. I don't have a test kit at the moment it's at my friends place.

Tanks big enough for him then, what filter are you using.
Need to get that ammonia reading under control as it causes alot of damage to a fish resulting in the immune system shutting down.
I would add a bacterial med for now with the pinky growth.
Black patches can be ammonia burns that are healing.

Any red streaking in the fins.

I am using an Emperor 400 Filter. With 4 filter cartridges in it, so it is full to capacity with filtration materials.

There are no red streaks in the fins.

Its for a 75 gallon tank goldfish are massive waste producers I know kept them.
I ran two filters, is it possible to add another filter.

Not really, as I am a college student. I would have went for the canister filters, but just could not afford them at the moment. I was lucky enough to afford an upgrading of the tank. The box said it was made for an 80 gallon tank and i was told on here before that it was okay for the tank. As it does turn the water over about 7 times.

Yes it a good filter but it sounds like it's not keeping up with the goldfish waste.
Water changes for now.
How often do you maintain the tank.

Well I have been doing water changes about every 2 days so far.I have been cleaning up the gravel about when I do the water changes. I do the gravel about 3 times a week, maybe more. I know I have been doing a lot of work with this lately to try and keep him out of this mess. I'm hoping he just doesn't get worse. I already had one of his of goldie friends have a problem like this before. He is still living I may add. So I have dealt with ammonia poisoning before.

Just wasn't quite sure if that's what this was or what. Thanks for your help so far!

Can you post nitrite and nitrate results.
Sounds like you are over doing the gravel vacs.
Just do a water changes for a week and leave the gravel.

Alrighty so keep up the water changes, will do! I will try to get nitrates and nitrites up then...stats that is.

Are there any specific treatments I should look into to help him get better?

Ok hard to say without nitrite and nitrate stats.
What your tap nitrate reading to tank.
