hello there to anyone who's taken the time to read my post.i bought two golden severums from my local aquatic store.im totally unaware of what sex they are,so i really just need some help on sexing the two,and at what age and size they breed, mine are not too large yet ,only agout two inches long.imay well have two of the same sex???who knows???so any advice would be great ta.oh and does anybody want a breeding pair of pelvicachromis taeniatus(nigerian red krib)superb looking little fish.free to a good home,as long as your not to far away.ta. :hey:

Well they may not be big enough to sex yet, though I can tell on most of mine as the males have longer pointed fins.

Also where are you, I could be interested in the pelvicachromis taeniatus.

thanks for the advice,i'll have a look at the finnage on both.the taeniatus pair are rearing a brood but as soon as they can go i'll post you a message.they really are wicked looking little fish,a bit more delicate than they're larger cousin.the common krib seems to have lost its appeal to me. im in essex

If you look at the severums face... in between their eyes.. you might be able to tell by the squiggles or no squiggles..

If they are only 2'' it's probably too soon... around 3-4'' you should have better luck..

If there are no squiggles, or very transparent dull ones, could be female.
If there are lots of bright squiggles.. could be male.

I'm not talking about cheeks.. I mean between the eyes..

the ___ area if that makes sense.. like the broad part where their nostrils are.

My females have marks all over their cheeks, but nothing im between their eyes.
