I've had my two large golden severums for two years, since they were the size of quarters. But they still don't seem to really have any real red coloration, mostly gold/yellow. Is it possible that they might not carry the "red-gene", or could it be their diet? I feed them Hikari Bio Gold pellets, algae discs, and a few differant freeze-dried foods. Thanks!

Ok mate if they are golden severums they won't have any red in them unless they're males and males don't have red it's more a burnt orange pattern on there faces which is the way you sex these fish females are just a plain yellow/golden colour and have shorter anal and dorsal fin's. Now there's red severums which are more red than golden but still have the golden yellow background colour.

Failing that and your still unsure look at the eye's of the severums if there a pinkish colour you could very well have albino severums.

Post us some pic's and i'll be able to give you a much better answer.

Thanks :)! I'll see if I can get some pics!
