Today I bought golen dojo loach hes about 4 inches i heard the eat wafers i feed him how ever only eats it wen its really soft Ive sen that ppl feed em flakes and go up to eat but he doesnt do that i think i should give him time my friend has a khuli loach thats lives with other fish and loves hanging out with her neon tetras i think time is all myn needs wat do u think plz answer

He probably needs time to settle in; fish tend not to eat much the first few days in a new tank.

All loaches are social fish though, so he won't be very happy on his own; he needs friends of his own species really, not other sorts of loaches.

One other thing; weather loach can grow to be about a foot long, is your tank big enough?

Loaches are also very sensitive to water quality. Is the tank cycled?

thanks for ure suggesions. my tank is cycled its a 35 gallon tank. u sure needs liv in groups cause lots of ppl keep em alone but with other fish my friends has lived for about 5 years alone but with other type of fish

Dojo's need at least and absolute minimum of three in one tank. So at least 2 more will do :good:

"The Dojo Loach will reach about 6" (15 cm) in the aquarium, though in nature it can get much bigger. In the wild these fish are reported to reach up to about 11 1/4 inches" (28 cm). The Baensch Aquarium Atlas, Volume 2 reports them reaching up to 20" (50 cm). They generally have a life span of between 7 - 10 years."

"The Dojo Loach is said to be bulletproof in terms of loaches. Even with this reputation they still need good water condition. They are not recommended for beginners because of their need for pristine water and having small body scales. Reduced scales makes them more prone to disease and very sensitive to medications used to treat disease."

"The Dojo Loach is mostly a bottom dweller, but will spend some time in the middle and top of the aquarium. This is a good sized fish that likes to be kept with 3 or more companions of its own kind. It needs at good sized aquarium of 55 gallons or more and the longer the better, 4 feet being minimum."

Well looking up facts in Google says it all and i learned something new myself. didnt know best in groups of 3+ or the tank requirements. Mine spent two months with no other loaches and i can almost pick him up and can occasionally pet him o_O. i own 4 kuhlis, and another dojo now

I couldn't help but google the need of 3+ dojo loaches, i figured crossfire knew what she was talking about just hadnt read it my self,so wanted to double check
