Golden Gourami's

Hiya just got to wondering just how long do Golden Gourami's live for, my boy is only baby really about 8 monthes old. My Pearl is quite a bit older about a year and a half, and she was bossing him around boy does she show him who's wearing the fins around the tank. Well now the boy has decided he's going to put his best fins forward and show her!!!!!!! . They are a lovely pair of fish and give me great pleasure, but of course it's sad to think that they wont be with me forever. Any input would be gratefully recieved Shanna

They can live to be 7 years old, sometimes more, more often to 5.

Hiya Sylvia wow i didnt realise they could live to that age, that would be wonderful. It comes down to condition of the fish and hoiw well you look after them i suppose with mine i do lots of water changes, hoovering the bottom and a very varied diet. I study my fish a hell of a lot and i have got to know them pretty well, so i know when something is not quite right with them.
