Hi...

I've got a large golden apple snail in my freshwater aquarium, with some fantails.

(yes i know this is tropical but a response will take too long on that section and snails are all 'similar')

Basically under my lid, in a crevis, i've found what i can only describe as polystyrene. It looks like small off white/yellow balls all stacked up on each other??

If this is eggs, how long till they hatch? And what should i do if i want to keep them?

Thanks.

If the area is warm and moist enough for them to live and hatch you are probably facing 2 or 3 weeks of waiting. Before they hatch, they will start to turn whitish on the surface as if they were getting moldy. Its quite normal for that to happen. If they dry out completely of course there will be no new snails. If the eggs get submerged, they will drown. Its a fine line between enough humidity for the eggs health and so much they drown. You can get much more help at applesnail.net . There are real experts there that I am starting to learn a little from.
