i have a gold convict, known as a pink convict and it always was pink. it all of a sudden turned gold. is she trying to attract other fishes attention to mate?

stupid fish store said it was a pink convict. its really an albino jellybean blood parrot.

Well jelly bean blood parrots are a cross between Convicts and parrot fish, When she gets the gold on her belly its signaling shes ready to spawn. Same goes with all convicts.

ive got some of these and got told the same pink/white covicts well you learn some thing everyday lol i do know when they get that orange/gold they are ready to spawn

i have also found this and the pic that was with it is a pink/white convict

The convict cichlid can also be found in a leucistic strain known as the pink convict, white convict or gold convict. Leucism is a condition characterized by reduced pigmentation in animals. Unlike albinism, it is caused by a reduction in all types of skin pigment, not just melanin. This strain of convict is not as easy to breed as the common zebra-striped version but they are reproduced for the sake of the aquarist industry and their breeding habits are the same. The females are whitish-pink with red splotches on their bellies and the males are just plain whitish-pink.
