So I know the reason the Zebra Pleco costs so much is that they are no longer allowed out of Brazil. Not surprising since they were so incredibly difficult to find when they WERE being allowed out.

But what about Gold Nugget plecos? Both L018 and L081. Are they still allowed to export those? I'm guessing so, since the cost for them is still only $50-ish.

I had my eye on them for some time now but After checking LiveAquaria, aquascapeonline, petsolutions, and aquariumfish.net I couldn't either find them or out of stock and have been for some time. Bummer. I also checked aquabid.com and didnt see anything. Maybe there is a local group that hold meetings and sells them. I Like this website for example. http://raleighaquariumsociety.org
I hope that helps.

I actually answered my own question after posting this. They are indeed still allowed out of Brazil. L018, L081, and L177 are all still being collected.

Right now they are probably just "out of season" for collectors in Brazil.

I'm not sure, but their seasons are more like rainy season and dry season. I'll have to find out when the rainy season is.

Definitely would be awesome to have! Would go nicely in the 75. I definitely would have to save up money for that one if I chose to get it.
