I added 3 corys to my tank a week after the gourami was added. The gourami is good with the neons, but rough on the corys. Even to the point of chasing them around the tank a couple of times. This often revolves around food. The gourami doesn't want the corys rooting around, either near it or perhaps an area it is in. This is worse now, a few weeks after the corys were added than at first.

I am hoping when I move the gourami to the 55g, it won't be so mean. I wanted to add corys later to the 55g, but in light of the aggression, should I consider adding them before the gourami (and any new gouramis)?

I put flakes on the surface so the gourami will be distracted and I can let a shrimp pellet sink to the bottom so the corys get to eat. They have to eat fast because after the gourami eats as much as I dare feed without getting the tank dirty, it is after the corys and their shrimp pellet. I am feeding everyone enough and the neons are comfortable enough to come to the surface to eat too and even eat flakes from my fingers. They were added at the same time as the gourami, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

It's actualy quite unusual for a gourami to be so aggressive towards bottom dwellers as they aren't usualy viewed as a threat. In the 55 gallon, this probably won't be as much of an issue. Still, it is probably a good diea to take the precaution of adding all other fish before the gourami as this particular one is obviously quite territorial and doesn't like 'intruders'. :)
