hi all, my gold barbs are flicking off objects in my tank like the substrate, wood and plants, so i know somethings up. I guess my 3 new ones have brought something in. Currently they are in a Q/T tank.
i went to my local MA yesterday to look for some treatment but i wasnt sure what to get. im guessing they have ick but i dont know what is the best treatment. There are no whitespots or velvet patches on the external of the fish. They look healthy.
Water parameters are spot on and they tank is at 24C. W/C's are about 30% a week, as it low stocking. Nothing added to the water. Tank is a 120L containing...

7 gold barbs (added 3 gold barbs a couple of weeks ago, so i guess they have brought whatever it is in)
2 SAE
1 BN
6 corries
and some nerites.

The other fish are not showing any 'ill' signs.

What have they got?
what should i get to treat?

cheers

What the make of the test kit you are using.

Any tiny bubbles on the fish.
Do the fish gills look pale with excess mucas, or red and inflamed.
Any excess mucas on the fish body.
Is there a greyish film or a greyish blue film on the fish.

im using an interpet liquid test kit which i know to be pretty good. and my water has always been tip top in the tank, and nothing has died orbeen moved around in the tank. all that has happened is ive added 3 GB's.

No bubbles, no pale gills, no mucas, no films. externally they look very healthy.

We always need to check water quality.

Keep a look out for tiny white spots, or the fish looks like it's been sprinkled in salt.
Your fish could break out in whitespot.

they have been doing it for nearly 2 weeks now i rekon, and still no external symptoms.

Are the fish showing any of these signs.

Laboured breathing, or gasping at surface of tank.
Any excess mucas.
Any signs of darting or erratic swimming.
Do the fish swim in a jerky movment.
Any fish lost weight.
Any red pin prick marks on the fish or sores.
Do the fish spit there food out.
What does it look like when your fish go to the toilet.
Any worms prutruding from and anus.

Added anything to the tank that could be irratating there skin.
The only other thing I can think of is flukes, you can't see them with the naked eye.
But would of expected to see more fluke symtoms.

Scratching on objects in tank (bacteria, parasites, toxins)
----Twitching (bacteria, parasites, toxins, skin irritant)

everything is fine, the tank is well oxygenated, they often sit still when my room is quiet, poo is normal and they gobble food like normal. Diet consists of

Flake
Tetra pro veg
Tetra Prima
2 types of crushed sinking pellets
Powdered bloodworm
live bloodworm
frozen Daphnia
Live Daphnia

and they nibble on the veggies that go in for the BN.

If water quality is good and you have added nothing to the tank that could be irritating there skin, you could be dealing with something like flukes.
