I am new to the tropical side of fish keeping  but capable and smart none the less i have a 20 gall tank with:

4 x guppies
6 x cardinals
2 x coreys

and i really really really really want some shrimp ! ..... BUT i cannot find them anywear local and they cost me an arm and a leg to import them the breed i am after are called red cherry shrimp.. im not planning on putting too many more fish in the tank maybe 3-4 more guppies becuase the males are getting aggressive  and maybe another 2 coreys  but other then that im more intrested  in breeding the shrimp once i get them so people locally do not have to wait 1-2 weeks for 2-3 shrimp and pay 7 pound for 2 etc its kind of  silly  but hey its wat i want to do.
So that brings me to my question.
Does anyone have any idea where i can pick up some cherry shrimp local to birmingham *uk* ?

All the Maidenhead Aquatics I've ever been in have had Red Cherries, they're about the most popular freshwater shrimp. The nearest one to Birmingham is at the Notcutts Garden Centre near Shirley (Solihull).

There are usually a few people selling them in our Classified section, too. You won't need to import them. You can also look on Aquarist Classifieds as well.

There's also Aquarist Classified, or eBay. Cherry shrimp breed very readily, so there's almost always someone trying to move some on!

Think you may be surprised how many LFS actually do have RCS as these are easy to breed and pretty hardy little shrimps.

P@H don't really tend to stock shrimps, however as TLM has said alread Maidenhead Aquatic nearly always have these in stock.

Failing these, there should be small LFS nearby, like in a garden centre that has a Aquatic Centre like Knights or Squires for example, not sure whats in your area, a little research will give you a few results.

Hope that helps a little.
