I'm going on vacation and i'm wondering what i should do for my fish, i heard feeding blocks and gel foods aren't good to use, do you know of any cheap automatic feeders?

I always asked a friend to drop in and feed them, they will be alright for a week or two if someone comes in and feeds the 2 - 3 times a automatic feeder is not really needed.

How long you going on vacation for? I have a juwel automatic feeder but I hear that fish are quite sustainable and can be without food for quite a while. Someone more knowledgable might be able to give you some better advice.

we'll probably be on vacation 2 weeks at most, i might ask my neighbor to feed them. Since he has little experience in fish keeping i'll probably put pre measered foods in sandwich bags for him.

Your neighbour need only feed them twice while you are away - once each week. Fish can go a week or longer without food and the less the better because you wont be doing water changes and the less they eat the less they will poo.

Seconded. I will happily leave my tanks for 10 days or so. 2 weeks is a bit long though so asking someone to pop over if possible is a great idea. This way they can fish out any dead fish (never know if one may pop-off) which could cause an ammonia spike if left in the tank.

Try to feed them a little more than normal for the few days before you leave, and DO NOT touch the filter for a week or so before you go incase you cause a mini-cycle.

happy hols.
