Going Have To Go Drastic...

Ok, I thought I was getting a tank from my biology teacher, but things didnt work out so well( We filled it up in class and it exploded lol) So, Im going down to walmart and buying a 10 gallon tank kit( My budget is only $60)

Umm, we filled it up, it was on a desk. Then we heard this cracking sound and the tank broke apart.

Ive often wanted to fill a large tank and shoot a nail gun through t from a distance for fun.be great to watch it crack n break under the pressure.

Any advice on the walmart package?

You don't have a get a Walmart package, they usually aren't worth the money. Get the 10 gallon for 10 bucks. Get the filter(Aquamini is the cheapest and still great.) for 20 bucks. Get the heater for another 20. And you're left with 10 for whatever stuff you want, which is not vital for fish. Shop around, you can usually find places with discounts so you can use the extra money for stuff you like.

I got a 10 gallon setup for only 20 bucks. I found the 10 gallon on the street, with the lighting and heater. I bought the Aquaclear Mini, and I was ready for fish.

Argh, I did not know that the filters and heaters were so dang expensive, now im really going have to go walmart.

Can you get a tank anywhere else besides Walmart? Chances are that the tank you buy from them could lead you to problems too.

Any chance that an LFS is near you? Maybe buying a used tank from the buy/sell forum here or the classified like craigslist.org You can sometimes find free 10 gallon packages on Craig's list under the "free" section

Well, Petsmart is also around here( Actually, next door to walmart) But I heard that their prices are simply outrageous...

You could also look for free tanks on craigslist.org

I got a 29 gallon setup free on there, and also a bunch of 20 gallon long tanks for free.

They're just held in the storage room until my dad finally lets me set up a fish room

Just looked, nothing free, someone wants 490 for a freaking tank,sigh... I dont think I can afford this hobby.

I tell you what, If this is for a class project, I will hook you up. I have a heater and a whisper Jr (I think its called that). I will ship that to a school for free. If you want I will ship you a 10 gal acrylic tank with lighting and undergravel filter. If you want the tank you will have to pay for Shipping and Packaging. I would probably have it packed at a UPS store or something. Let me know if your interested.

I won't ship this to a home address it must go to a school.
