I am going to be going away for 2 days... then coming back for a few days and then going away for 3-4 days.  I just wanted to check on what would be best to do for my betta during this time.  For the 2 days, is he alright to go without food?  (I do not have someone capable of coming in to feed my fish).

For the 3-4 days, could he be left without food or should I leave a small portion of a food block for him?

He should be fine for that amount of time.
I think I read WildBetta saying Bettas can go up to 2 weeks without food.
Depending on the feeding block, it will most likely do more harm than good as they often pollute the water.

I holiday about three times a year, usually for a week to 10 days, and I just leave them without food. I have never had a problem. Fish are cold blooded and need far fewer calories than us in proportion. If your betta is well fed (as usually are all aquarium fish) he'll be just fine without food.

Yeah, he'll be absolutely fine for both the 2 day and the 4 day break.

Excellent.  I am still a nervous betta owner since my first one died after just a week and 2 days.  This one has been doing great and I don't want to mess it up.  :)

Yep that time period is perfectly fine to leave him without food.  I feed my tanks 4 times a week so there are times when the tanks don't get fed for 2 or so days in a row.  I have never had an issue with constipation or bloat with my fish in this manner.  Depending on your water change schedule, you might want to do a small water change between the times you will be out to keep the water nice and clean.  As far as feeding blocks -- I have only really heard negative on them.  They tend to polute the tank and have been the cause of fish death for many people.  If you ever worry about your fish not surviving a couple of days without food, think about this.  In the wild they do not have a guaranteed meal every day and they get on just fine.  :)

It is ok not to feed them for about a week and yet they will live. In my place, people often feed their betta once in three days
