Well i am going away this weekend (sat and sun) but Blaze hasn't ate anything yet, i have had him since sunday, how long can they go without food?

They can go a while without food. Why isn't he eating is he just picky? I got a betta yesterday and I havent even tried him on food yet, I usually leave them 48 hours to settle in :good:

I have read in several different places that bettas can go 2-3 weeks before starving to death. I think he'll be fine not eating over the weekend. I'd try feeding him before you left though-just incase he has decided he finally wants to eat.

:fish:

well he flares at floating food so i tried some sinking pellets that my girlies eat, he chased it then left it, but he keeps searching the area it fell so hopefully he'll eat soon :good:

This is probably dumb, but is it possible that he could be blind?

What type floatng food are you giving him? I use the Hikari Betta Bio Gold and every betta I'vehad ate them almost immediately. You might also try some frozen foods like brine shrimp, daphnia or bloodworms.

most important is that flaring and chasing the food is keeping him busy and the tempation to take a bite out of it will get the better of him, searching is a good sign

It could be the food... the Hikari Bio Gold is amazing - every betta eats it. It is also relatively small so it won't be too big for him...

Try feeding him till the second youi leave... he might change his mind...

wel i'm back and he seemed happy to see me, haven't seen any Hikari Bio Gold around here, do they do it in the UK? i am currently trying him on the only food i have at the moment which is, flake, these floating pellets (don't know what they are but the females love them) and King british Catfish food which is what he chases (the girlies also love this) so i am hoping he'll warm to one of these, if not i'll have to try some bloodworm :good: either way i will not let him starve :good:
