Hi,

I'm going away for a week but my tank's light doesn't give me the option to run it on a timer. So I can either leave the light on 24 hours a day for a week or leave it off altogether. What would you advise? I have two fantail goldfish.

Why not invest in a simple timer which sits between your lights and the plug socket? they cost about £3

The light and the filter pump are part of the same unit with a switch for the light. If I use a timer switch for the mains plug it will turn off the filter pump.

In which case leave them off, your plants may suffer slightly but will recover in a few weeks, fish dont need lights anyway its for your viewing, and algae absolutley loves light.

OK, thank you. I didn't realise fish don't need light, I suppose it's obvious when you think about it.
