Right, rescape is nearly done, just wondering if glossostigma would grow under t8's? They're around 20" above the substrate and they are 30w x2. They seem very bright. Around 1wpg I think. 260 litres roughly.

Thankyou please.

seeming bright is only the K and lumen's. It'll be the PAR that's the main thing and we cannot measure that without a meter. Rather than dishing out a load of money on pots of glosso, i would be inclined to buy a pot and see what happens.

you gonna be using a carbon source? I wouldn't use glosso without a carbon source.

What would you use then? Not dosing Carbon as i have Vallis in there and it's 260 litres so would cost a fortune!

Moss again? lol.

yeah, E Tenellus is a good idea...though it will be slow without a C02 addition. Time for you to go pressurised Minnnt.

Pogostemon helferi? Echindorus tenellus?

I do have some Helferi to replant to another tank as the one that its in is being shut down. But Apple Snails love it so i would have to put them in with the Cherry Shrimp i guess... :hey:

May go and get another 6 pots of it tomorrow.

Will look into the Echindorus.

I will be adding ferts as always, but no co2. Would love to go pressurised, but i don't have a spare £150... :-(

Maybe Helferi will have to do. Unsure how it would fit in though... May have to mull it over and see.

Tom Barr will tell you Glosso is a low light plant :)

Many struggle wit hit though under many differing situations.

In anaswer to the original question yest T8s are fine. People forget that all these plants were grown for years and years before flouro lighting became the norm and countless beautiful Glosso lawns have been produced under T12s let alone T8s :)

Worth a go then? If I notice is struggling then I can move it to a different tank.

Is co2 necessary?

As said above you could always buy just the one pot and see how it goes. It's the other stuff that goes along with it that makes the difference. It needs a good substrate flow and is helped along by a carbon source along with the other nutrients). Without a carbon addition it can take an age to carpet.
