What a day! After getting to the last water change of the day and feeling a little bit impatient to refill the last tank, I had this brilliant idea. What if I raised my plastic dustbin, used to mix the new water and add conditioner, a tad higher to aid the flow from my pump back into the tank. My eyes fell upon a "sturdy" cardboard box...... ( I know, it's the aged mind! ). So, up went the dustbin and got filled from the hose with water. All was going swimmingly well, pardon the pun, until yours truly knelt down to fit a new piece of airline to the airpump, when wooosh, 70 litres of water came crashing down soaking the living room carpet and me of course. After the initial shock wore off and the other half had walked past the living room muttering "she used a cardboard box" and shaking his head sadly, I realised that paddling in water on the carpet whilst water was probably floating over the electrics was a bad idea, so fled to the kitchen out of danger.
Well having purchased a wet and dry cleaner 2 days ago (must have known!), the clean up operation went fairly quickly thank goodness and no electrocution took place, phew. I've just switched on the internal filter which seems to have died so will leave to dry out overnight. External filter and heater are both still working so the tank is at least operational. Maybe in future, the water dustbin had better remain firmly on the ground.

Awww! Sorry that happened. At least you won't do it again. I hope everything is cleaned and well dried now
