i'm wondering about adding danio glo fish to the 20 gallon tank with one guppy in it.
i've read about longer tank cycling before adding them. are there other other tank conditions that are best for glo danios?

A standard 20g tank is not sufficient space for danios, whatever species or type. Danios are very active swimmers, and they need space. If this is a 20g long, with a length of 30 inches/75 cm, it can work, but a standard 20g high which is only 24inches/60 cm long is not enough space. Danios are shoaling/schooling fish, so a group of 10 or more is needed as well.

On the "glo" fish itself, these should not be acquired on moral grounds. This is not a natural species, it is a man-made variety and on an ethical note the hobby does not support such things, however they were achieved. The only way to stop this practice is not buying the fish. They are prohibited in the EU and the UK (if memory servs me correctly), they should be elsewhere as well.

hi
i 've wondered about how those fish get the colors. i think it's a good idea that your country. and others ban them. there are also goldfish that have been turned into shapes that are unnatural.
my last guppy died today😢 i don't understand what's going on.

GloFish are genetically modified which is why they are banned in many countries. A jellyfish gene is inserted into an egg to create those colours.

Other fish are coloured by dying or even tattooing patterns onto them. This practice is banned in the UK, but it is legal to import fish which have been dyed in other countries

it's so sad- nature is beautiful on its own.
