was at the local dog groomer ( closest thing to a local fish store... they have a Glo Fish section ) and while waiting in line for feeders, the couple in front of me bought a glo green / yellow cory... I've never seen a glo cory there before, and they aren't on the display... I assume these must be the new fish to get the treatment... probably on the albino aeneus, base???

I hope not :(! Not that "glow" fish are as bad to me as some Frankenfish. Maybe they were "laser" corys with anew more exciting name?

Glo-Corys - that's a shame. It goes against everything I keep fish for, but I recognize I'm a minority. Glofish are the ultimate (so far) fish as ornaments example, and you won't learn much about nature, diversity and evolution from keeping them. They're copyrighted gene splices, and a classic case of corporate creation versus evolution.
They're a cut off point where this becomes different hobbies rolling along side by side.
On one side, you have the trying to learn about natural history side, and the other keeping lab created fish because they glow. Clearly, I judge there, but I also know there will be back and forth between the two views (which are really hundreds of points of view). It's never black and white, neon orange or jellyfish green. When I was new to the hobby, I probably would have bought glofish. I bought fancy Bettas and linebred unnatural hybrid fish back then, so I can't be too righteous.
Well,I can be, but I shouldn't...

a Hispanic couple with weak english were the purchasers they bought several other Cory's as well... they also had a bag of feeder Comets as well, which prompted conversation... they had a turtle they were feeding those to... there was enough of a language barrier, that I didn't go beyond turtle, to see what kind... they were younger, and I didn't see any children, so it wasn't a child that picked out the Glo Cory

this was the color

under the "blackish" lights they use on the glo tanks, the fish stood out from 20 feet away.

I won't own one, but they are coming to a fish store near you...

I think the glo angels are also pretty new... the store didn't have any, but the seller, said those, and the cory's sell as fast as they get them in...

I think this devides us, like republicans and democrats, Catholics, and Baptists

That’s awful. I really really hate glowfish of any kind, I’m not too bothered about the inbred betas or the weird parrots.(I would never keep them tho.) However, whenever I see the glow fish I can’t stand it, I know it’s good for newbies but no fish is ever going to look like that in the wild or that awful colour.

The only good news is I’ve never seen them for sale in Maidenhead aquatics.
