Downside to using ferts - NEVER!
Some fertilisers dont have Nitrate in them, these are ideal for heavy stocked tanks where the fish produce a lot of NO3. Those that contain NO3 will make it rise.
aim for about 20ppm.
They will affect other levels, but not for the worst.
