it's a shame, but I am going to give up keeping gourami's. they are nice, but just seem to get ill too often when trying to breed them. I have thick lipped gourami's, and whenever I introduce a male to my females, or females to a male, they have fun doing what they do, and then after a couple of weeks they ballon up with dropsy. No other fish in the tank goes down with it, and I hate having to put them out of their misery.

nevermind. plenty more fish in the sea.

I have to say I have come to that conclusion myself with gourami. I've lost 4 honey gourami in the space of 4 months, not to mention the 4 dwarf gourami that have died on me as well, and am now sadly disillusioned. In my larger tank I don't have room for any bigger varieties as yet, but I am deffo leaving dwarf varieties alone for a while
