Give This Guy A Peice Of Ur Mind

11 foot isn't that common in captivity, it isn't that coommon in the wild anymore either due to overfishing. Seeing one past 8 feet is doing pretty well these days

Well bring out the 100 gallon and lets start bidding!! lol
8 foot is still large, what the heck is he going to do with it if it doesn't sell? Pop a beer and start the grill?

lol... The auction is fine, I wish I had the pond and cash to buy it. I've seen a 7' one of these in the Blue Planet Aquarium (A public aquairum near me)

A weird looking fish, more spade than fish, lol.

No problems though.

That is a big fish. I would not set one foot in a pond with that fish. As I read the thread, I kept thinking of Jaws or the scene in The Princess Bride with the "Shrieking eels". Well, there are specialists out there, I'm sure it'll sell.

As for the corpse, they are an important food fish, so I guess you just need a whole load of tatties for Fish and chips for a month. However, being such a large fish I would expect a fairly sizeable life expectancy (20-40 years)

Never, and I mean NEVER eat anything that died of natural causes.

get something even bigger that will eat it

araipimas gigas, common name: pirarucu. it gets as long as a station wagon. They have something LIKE a labrynth organ (not exactly) and can breathe air. they are from the amazon, the natives eat it, its endangered, its an ancient fish.

it seems alot of these people are quick to point out the fish he is selling and how wrong it is and this and that, but as stated, he is doing nothing wrong by selling the fish. Perhaps he is actually trying to save the fish's life, anyone think of that? Maybe he bought it not realizing its size and now needs to rehome it. I also see alot of people are assuming some nimwit will just go and buy the fish and throw it in some aquarium, but if you read the beginner section or almost any section of this forum, you will find about 20 post per day of someone buying a fish not suited for their aquariums. So should we start bashing all them as well not knowing their situations either?

Well that doesn't surprise me. If I was a native of the region, I'd also eat a fish that got as long as a station wagon! Salt it, and you've got food for a whole village! I told you, shrieking eels.

love google

What a waste of an animal. :(

Theres nothing wrong with selling big fish, its up to the buyer to know what they are buying.

Somehow CFC, I don't think that animal is going to be wasted. More likely eaten. If not, that would be some catch and release fishing trip!

Well, I was actually thinking about a nice lunch of CFC's killer Indian catfish. I  catfish :fun: :p

So I suppose it is an ocean or sea or marine animal?

:S  :hyper: That's some river. We talk about Clown loaches getting big! What do they eat?
