My angelfish came down with these symptoms when I first got them. I got a lot of good advice, including using Protozin and 5mg per gallon of salt, which worked, although it was a long haul. Apparently (according to someone very knowledgeable and experienced I got some help from), these symptoms are brought on by stress weakening the immune system (eg. coming to a new home, moving tank), and are very common in badly bred angels. Using Protozin and salt covers the symptoms from both angles - bacterial and fungal. Whether that's why it worked or not, I don't know. But it did, and also sorted a recurrence with further angels later on.

I monitor the water closely so the tap and tank ph are the same.
If i felt the tank was losing its balance then I would buy coral gravel but its only the original angels that are suffering. If it was acidosis then all the fish would be suffering wouldnt they?
Will get some coral gravel to raise the kh and see if that helps.

The new angels are fine and healthy, i believe one of them is a carrier of something and the old angels to the tank have caught it.
I dont know about the salt as i have cory and plecs in the tank. 5mg per gallon is that 5 teaspoons?

The two babies seem to be rid of the slime but are still clampy and at the back. The adult female is still the same and seems to be pitting on her skin, though not on her head area.

Thanks for the replies, doing another water change tomorrow and adding the last treatment.

5mg per gallon is 1 teaspoon per gallon. At that level it doesn't harm plants, and I used it with cories and plecs in the tank.

Good luck,

Kathy

Can't comment on the use of salt, but if the fish are still eating thats a very good sign!

Thanks Kathy
will add some salt as at that level it will act as a tonic.

Good news is she is out with the other two and looks so much better, her slime has gone and colour back.
It must have been the ich that did this to her as she now has some ich spots on her.
Last dose of this med tonight, and if still there will do another round.

Thank you all for your help :)

Just to update that the large tank is now ich free and the little tank has just a couple of fish with ich :)

Thats good news black angel.
