I caught one like that down the canal the other day

I though the biggest freshwater fish was an Arapaima.

wow, that's a huge ray!! Tail alone is 12feet long??? It's good that they want to study to conserve them, but I'm afraind catching them w/hook isn't good for these giants

It looks like it could eat you . I agree that catching them isn't the best thing, but at least it was released. Too bad we don't know very much about them.

It's catch-and-release; no harm, no foul. Plus it's for research.

It doesn't look like they killed it has they had it partially submerged in the water to keep it alive.
