MY Giant gourami is huge!! Helive in a 10gallon, I needto get a good pic and show you all, he can hardly turn around he's that big!!! His best friends are some goldfish.

He eats anything I throw in the tank evenpeople food!

I hesitate to post in case this is flame bait but just in case you are for real I will ask how long you've had him in this tank? He's dyed blue I see in your other post? The dye will most likely fade and make him more likely to get sick.
And FYI, fish that are in too small of a tank will become deformed into strange shapes with their spines at a 90deg angle (like a V or an L) IF they survive. Most likely, they will not live long enough for that to happen.

And people, please, this may be a troll making things up and looking for trouble so don't let your insults get out of hand.

I am with you Tammy. I read his intro and he claims to have been in fish keeping 20 years. The fish he claims to have all all in way to small tanks. I think he is trolling for a fight. He brings to mind a person we had a couple days ago the was trying to fight with the mods, same typing style.

i never understand why people would want to troll a fish forum. surely there's more interesting things to do. i mean, how do you decide to go rile up some fish keepers? do you just wake up some morning and think "hm, i ought to google for a place where people really like fish and then try to piss them off. boy, that'll really make them look stupid when they start trying to share knowledge with me and urge me to treat other living creatures with respect. i know! i'll say that i keep all of these huge fish in these tanks so small that i couldn't really fit them into without a crowbar! hm, i better go look up how to spell all of these huge fish that i'm going to pretend to own so that those stupid fish nerds think that i'm telling the truth!"

Shelly, I didn't notice that 20 years thing. He reads like he's around 14 years old, so how could he be a fish keeper for 20? Definately a troll.

pica, you're right, why would anyone even think it's funny? The joke's on them.

I hesitate to post in case this is flame bait but just in case you are for real

About, ooh, 0% likely to be true. Considering the 'it's full grown' mention, and full grown giant gouramis are ~3ft, well, no 10g I've ever seen is 3ft long.

Lol. Been using the "view new posts" option and wanting to ask him if he "was for real". Didn't want to piss people off, but it seems that his post in newbies and on here has already done that.

As for flaming on a fish forum, don't get that either, esp. with the demise of the general forum.

how dare someone do something like that to the almighty giant gourami.
if this is true, i hope that fish bites your fingers off when you are feeding it.
the giant gourami needs a bigger home. a DISGRACEFUL fish owner, especially when it is a giant gourami

"Hey,

I just found these forums,I've been keeping fish for over 20 years now, it's awesome. Right now I have a few fish and alwayslookingfor more. MY tanks include a 10 gallon which houses my nearly full grown Giant gourami and a few goldfish. A 20gallon with a lotof mollies and guppies, and a Jack Dempsey, he gets along with them great! I am right now looking for snakehead to house in my 15 gallon w/ my arowana. Anyway nice to meet youall!"

that is his post in newbs :X

for 1 - hes not 20, or maybe he would know how to use the space bar
second off- im pretty sure what he's saying is immpossible
plus goldfish?? mmhhmmm

this guy needs to get a life ive only had fish for a year and i know more than this guy who has had fish for 20 years :/

poor fishy :/

is it a Osphronemus Goramy???
i really dont think so
there are two types of giant gouramis
there is one that grows like 6 inches and one that grows like 33 inches
im positive you do not have a Osphronemus Goramy
lets see who is the noob now!!!!!!!!!!!
POWNAGE

There are actualy 5 species of 'giant' gourami - 4 of these belong to the genus osphronemus. they are:
o. goramy (typicaly grows to 28")
o. exodon (to 24")
o. septemfasciatus (to 20")
o. laticalvus (also to 20")
The other species often called the 'giant' gourami is colisa fasciata. It's called 'giant' because it is the largest in its genus (though, mind you, it's switched genus quite a few times :p) and is also known under the common names of 'banded', 'striped' or 'indian' gourami. I've also seen them called 'rainbow' gouramies as well as being mis-labelled as 'dwarf' or 'thick-lipped' gouramies. the banded grows to 4".

So yeah, a piece of entirely useless info. considering the nature of this thread - but I thought I'd mention it anyway :p The 'true' giant gouramies (ie: the osphronemus species) are some of my favourite fish. I know a fully grown osphronemus of any type certainly would not fit in a 10 gallon.

I'm not sure what's going on here, but it doesn't seem to be a legitimate post. If you have a question, feel free to start a new thread snappersoup69. For now, this one is closed before it gets too out of hand.

In before lock...
Congratulations?!
