okay, i want to get some ghost shrimp, once i upgrade to a either a 15 or 20 gallon tank (maybe to day, or sometime between this and next week). what fish are compatable with ghost shrimp. they aren't salt water, right? what tempautre water do they need?

:fish:

My oscar is best friends with his shrimp (for ~24 hours)

Keep in mind that ghost shrimp are scavengers and not algae eaters. They are basically the same as corys and just eat leftover food from the bottom. They won't eat algae. They are fun to watch though and very cheap. I paid 29 cents each for mine.

I think they eat some algae if that is the only food they can find but usually there will be enough food for them so that they ignore the algae.

They will only eat algae as an absolute last resort (such as if you have to be away from the tank a few days and can't feed them). If there is food going in the tank every couple days, they won't eat algae at all.

good, left over food? along with my loach, they will make a perfect team. :)

if by team you mean the shrimp torn to pieces in the loaches belly...your all set

I have seen loaches eat there way through a MTS shell...a shrimp would be a helpless snack...

oh well, it's not that bad, i mean, cuase i only have one loach, and i'm getting a 20 gallon tank, more long that tall, so they don't really have to see each other, i know that loachs can still swim normally, but i'm gonna put a diveder (just at the bottom of the tank) to try to keep them seperated. out natural stuff like rocks, or plants, so they don't get suspiscious of anything, XD

The shrimp and the fish will swim over it. My shrimp go all over the tank, top and bottom. I divider is useless.

That definitely wouldn't work as the bottom feeders would be totally limited. All fish need to be able to get to the top from time to time. And how would you be able to have any decorations, plants, etc?
