Hi All,

Recently I have set up a 10G tank and put approximately 5 or 6 ghost shrimps into it. Since day 1 i have noticed that 2 of the shrimps have this white coil inside their bodies - initially i thought it was food, but now i dont' think so.

Does anyone know if this is something is hould be concerned about? The shrimps still look very healthy and are eating, they are still very transparent, making those white coil-like thing stand out a lot. I'm concerned that it might be some kind of parasites...

Any chance of pic? I've found my shrimp insides change colors depending on what I feed them, not sure if I've seen what you're talking about though. :/

I know what you are talking about, but I don't really know what it is... From what I have heard, it is a parasite, but I don't know if it could harm your fish.

EDIT: Ok, from what information I have found, it is definitely a parasite and could be some sort of nematode. Apparently, the "worm" gets out of the shrimp and is free swimming after a certain amount of time. Maybe you should isolate the shrimp with the parasite now, before it gets into the tank, 'cause I definitely would NOT want my fish eating that!

Found a video of one leaving a shrimp.......
