I have a 55 gallon tank and I'm done adding fish to it. It has been running for about a year and I was wondering about some pros and cons about adding ghost shrimp and snails. I don't know too much about them other then they will probably be eaten pretty fast in my tank. Any help ?

:hi: to the forum, Joey.

Can you tell us what species of fish you currently have? Then we can advise you on whether shrimps or snails will do well for you :)

I know people will say they don't go we'll together but I added them in as baby's and they are doing fine so far. I have 4 black skirts 3 clown loaches 2 golden dojos 1 leaf fish 1 feather fin catfish 1 hi fin pleco 1 gourami 1 African cichlid. Thank you.

You can't really add any shrimps or snails to that lot, I'm afraid, they'll just get eaten.

As for the rest of your stock, it's not just that they don't go well together, but some will also outgrow your tank.

Do you mean the loaches and the catfish ?

Yes; the clown loach and the sailfin plec both grow too big for a tank of that size.

The pleco will outgrow the tank probably quicker than the loaches. For the loaches it will take a good few years to outgrow your tank and that's if they survive till then if all is good. I have clown loaches in a 90-100G tank and read the whole lot on google available on them and they may get to 4-5 inches in the first few years, after that they grow really slow so you have 5-6 years to safe for a bigger tank.

Regardless, all these fish look like snail, shrimp eaters. My clown loaches cleaned my tank from snails in 2-3 days after I added them. I am still collecting the empty shells a few months after that, there was so many snails

Haha well thank you guys for the info. :good:
