gf225's 34G Planted - Latest

Thanks guys.

Dave 31 - I prefer Cardinals. IMO they're more colourful, robust, smaller, hide less, cheaper and less skittish than Rummynoses. I still have 7 in my tank though, only recently have they shown their full redness on their heads. If you do by them I'd recommend soft, acidic water and plenty of plant cover. Cardinals do best in these conditions too.

OzzieGirl - I got £20 for the pair. The shop will sell them for £50 for the pair, overpiced I think but I'm not complaining (they buy at 40% of what they'd sell them for.)

Tear-scar - Front right plant is Ludwigia repens x. "Arcuata", quite demanding for Ludwigia sp. loads of light and CO2 needed. It's only grown 2" in 4 weeks! I havn't pruned it once yet.

Discomafia - It is Rotala indica at the back. It used to be green but turned red with my light, I didn't realise you could get a red variety?

Dward Dude - I plan on getting a second Ram. Any tips on sexing?

Cometcattle - Riccia fluitans. A recent addition to block some light for my Swords, they grow better shaded a little.

Hope this has answered your questions guys, thanks again for the nice comments, makes it all worthwhile.

Ludwigia in the foreground! . . . lol, j/k. Everything looks nice dude. Just wondering, why do you have the riccia in there?

Amazing as always!!!

hair grass is carpeting nicely now, whats that plant next to it in the bottom right?

Why did you pick cardinals over more rummy nose's? I ask because im toying over the idea of a new tank and cant decide between a large shole of the 2.
Hi,

If you want tighter shoalers definatley go for Rummys.

I have both cardinals (35) and Rummys (15) and the Rummys are 95% of the time close knit, the cardinals tend to spread out more, all the same both are stunning.

Is ture you have to acclimatise rummys more carefully, they are a little more fussy on water quality, but once established they are fine.

George,

what does your wife think... she has got to appreciate such an amazing tank, do you think you might convert her into a fishy friend?

The Riccia was more of an impulse buy but I find the shading stops some of the green algae build up I was experiencing on some leaves, it provides cover for the more timid fish too. I may tie some to a stone eventually for an experiment, I love the bright green, especially when it's pearling.

Sanj - The wife likes the tank but not the amount of time I spend on it. She wants all the attention on her, typical woman!! (controversial....sharpe intake of breath)

Sounds like my mother, except instead of herself she wants my attention on the studies. Here I am TRYING to enjoy second semester seniorhood-- the bright glow of slack before going to college. :p

Ooh, have fun with the riccia. If it grows dense enough you can actually hold it down just by putting some gravel on top of it.

Yep, another tank that should be entered in the 2005 AGA contest.
Awesome, gf225!!!!
That is the best compliment I've had yet. Thanks Guppygirl, I may enter it although the best I could hope for is an "honourable mention", you must agree seeing the competition, it's stunning.
