Well after a water change today and a severe pruning and slight change around in the tank, the two Taeniatus bipindis started getting the nursery ready today.

Nice pictures, love that shrimp... are they compatable in a general community tank?

Amano shrimps are fine in a community tank. Just as long as nothing is big enough to eat them, my male Bipindi just ignores them. You do need plants for them and different hiding places, I hadn't seen mine for a week and then last night they all decided to make an appearance. The large female in the pic spent a good couple of hours at the front of the tank and just sat there when my female BN came to steal the algae wafer.

I would recommend you get a minimum of five amano's, they seem to like company and hang out together. Great little algae eaters as well.

Yeah thought so...cool cave indeed. How exactly d'you prepare the shell for going in the the tank? Obviously get all the coconut out but what about all the hairy stuff?

Cheers.

I cooked it in the oven for 40 minutes (after taking the coconut flesh out) then I boiled it.

The bristlenose took care of the hairy stuff.
