hi

i've got an established community tank, and i've had 2 cannister filters running in it for over a month. my new tank is now ready, and i want to transfer all my fish into the new tank

i would like to put a few - dare i say it, expendable - fish in there for a day or two, to make sure there's no unexpected problems, before risking adding fish which i've grown fond of

i also don't want the bacteria in the cannister filter i'll be using to die off

i was planning to get a few cories and/or tetra and put them in the new tank with no filter, just a power head for circulation. if they're all ok after a day or two, i would then transfer about half my fish from the old tank, and add the cannister filter. the other fish would remain in the old tank, with the other cannister filter. i would then slowly add the fish a few at a time to the new tank (i plan on just having one cannister filter in the new tank)

does this sound like an ok plan? would the new fish be ok without a filter for a couple of days (especially if i hardly feed them)? the new tank is 160 litres...

any comments appreciated
