The title says it all really. I'm on the hunt for a new camera and would like one that takes good pics of my tanks, my current camera can't get a good pic, no matter how many i take they all come out blurry. Don't want to spend through the roof though so any tips and recommendations would be appreciated.

If the pictures are coming out blurry I recommend putting the camera on a tripod, if you don't have one just a stack of books or something to the level you need.

Does the camera have a self timer? ... if so just line the picture up you want ... set the timer for 10 seconds (usually the norm) ... then press the shutter down move away and leave it to do it's thing ... you'll have no camera shake this way ... resulting in no blur :good:

Main thing ... only have the tank lights on when taking pics ... no house lights, TVs etc

It would help if we had a budget :D

also what type are you after. Camera market is huge with different types Compact? Bridge? dslr?

Compact is the typical Camera
Bridge is a hybrid of Compact/DSLR
DLSR is one where you can buy different types of lenses

thanks for the replies. I dont think its the camera movement as it takes good pics of everything else, i have a feeling it cant seem to penetrate the glass without distourting, but i'll give your advice a go and see if it helps.

£150 max as i'm not a big picture taker apart from my tanks, i know this limits me but i did find this:

I have used that camera a bit, or it may have been a slight upgrade as i think it hade a slightly higher resolution, but it was good none the less. If im right it has a super macro setting too which would be really good for close ups of individual fish

thanks, i think the extra fiver was for the 4gb memory stick

fanatstic, thanks andrew. Its good to get a first hand recommendation. My next batch of BN's should be good to go in another 2 weeks so i might use the profits for this camera :D

That's a bridge/superzoom
That particular camera is not much better than the older models. If you can afford it the Fuji FinePix S2000hd would be a much better model think there refurbed and new models going for 150 -160 on ebay if not I would go for an older cheaper model

Fuji make great little bridge camarea though

great, thanks. I think the s1000/s1000fd is a slight upgrade so it should work well.

mmm looks really good, i can get it direct from fujifilm uk for £136!!!

I got an fuji finpix S9600, this is a bridge so records too.

This has manual focus which is needed when doing fish, as auto's tend to focus on everything around the fish

and i get shot's like this
