dosing fertilizers into water column is not going to be the primary cause of algae, too much lighting and not enough nutrients/co2 would be.
i prefer powder fertilizers from green leaf aquariums... I got a set of teaspoons from Amazon for a couple of dollars, and 50 dollars worth of fertilizers that will last me 2 years. Bottled brand ferts are crazy expensive relative to the powders, it's ridiculous.
I just put in 3 x 1/32 tsp of CSM+B micronutrients tonight, which i alternate every other day with 3/16 tsp KNO3 and 3/32 tsp KPO4.
