confusion

So, I have 2 planted tanks - a 30G and a 55G. I hadn't been using CO2 and presumably as a result, I was overrun with algae. The 30G is particularly bad with black bush like algae covering a lot of the plants. There are a few plants in the 55G that are completely taken over by long hair like black algae.
So, I've just added a CO2 system to both of the tanks. I also dose with ferts twice weekly per the directions (all of the seachem products).
My question is this: will the algae go away now, or do I need to do something to get rid of it?
