I want to get rid of a few fish. My tank is overcrowded and I've been having Nitrate problems because of it. How do I get rid of them? Where can I sell them/give them away? What do you personally do with no longer wanted fish? I can't buy another tank due to financial reasons.

I'm sorry if this sounds mean. I love all my fishies. It's because of this that I want to get rid of some for the sake of their health.

My Best advice would be, to go to your local LFS and try there first. They would probubly be more than willing to Buy/Take your fish.

what kind of fish are you wanting to rehome? i might know someone interested in some depending on which ones.

btw your tank doesnt seem too bad, i have seen much worse, in fact when i started i had much worse lol. i would get rid of the algae eaters, the halfbeak and molly (just because they're alone), 2 male guppies (to give you proper ratio or buy 4 more females), then i think you will be fine. mostly get rid of the golden algae eaters and this will feree up a lot of space, or even the tetras.

if you are going to rehome the panda cories i defiantely knwo someone who would like them, and depending on the color of the balloon molly. but i dont know what you want to get rid of. so please let me know and maybe we can work something out.

if not your lfs will more than likely take them off your hands.

You might be able to find people on here who would be willing to take some of your fish. Try posting in the buy/sell forum.

However, I have not sen many people from Maryland on here (though they just might not have their location listed), so if that does not pan out, you could always give them away to a lfs.
