I would rather get them from a place like this

Tons of people have live fish shipped to them! I had 6 guppies shipped to me from Alabama and all arrived perfect.

If you are wanting to have fish shipped to you, I would suggest

1. Read tons of reviews, make sure the service is reliable
2. Make sure they offer a "Live Arrival Guarantee" this means if the fish arrive dead, if you contact them within a certain amount of time they will offer a refund of the cost of the fish, but usually not shipping
3. Research the fish you are interested in. Make sure you have the ability to provide for all their needs and that they are compatible with any tank mates you choose
4. Cycle your tank before the fish are shipped
5. Make sure to acclimate any fish to your tank, you don't want to stress them out more by just sticking them in there. You want to put small amounts of your tank water into the bag they were shipped in, so they can get acclimated to your tank temperature and water parameters

I avoid Amazon even to my financial loss. Iā€™ve used them once for a rare book that hadnā€™t been published over here. They pay no tax in the U.K. and were causing mass retail close downs here even before Covid reared itā€™s ugly head.

Buy local and if you canā€™t get fish shipped independently of Amazon get em shipped from a specialist aquatics shop.Once your High St/Main St, Downtown, Neighbourhood Mall etc has gone itā€™ll not come back and Amazonā€™s prices will go through the roof.
Keep your conscience clean.

Never ordered from Amazon but will say that I love Amazon Prime and most of my fish have been ordered online. :)

Shipping can be expensive. I really wanted some Odessa barbs from a specialized breeder which cost $40 for 6 + 2 (2 extra in case of a death) but shipping was going to be $87.

Maybe another day..

To be clear, Amazon is a storefront for thousand of different companies/vendors. So if you are a breeder, you can sell your fish on Amazon! Just give Bezos a small cut of the action. This is the positive side of Amazon, create a good widget and try to sell on their website. In the old days you had to deal with the Walmart of the world who would squeeze every penny out of you.

Yes, same way with EBay, Etsy, etc. Even Walmart is a store front now for others.

As mentioned above by @Slaphppy7 I heard hood things about The Wet Spot. Slaphyy7 has actually purchased from them.
