So as most of you know I have 2 uaru now. They are doing awesome almost fully healed. But I don't know if the fins will ever be 100%.

Anyways my parrot and the 2 Uaru are friends. They swim together don't mess with eachother at all. But then there is my punk. The Female Blue acara. She trys to fight the Uaru. They just stand their grownd and she backs off. OR my parrot will swim up and chase her away from the Uaru. As if to say "they might want to hurt you but I will" then the acara swims off.

It's really funny how well some cichlids can get along and what punks others can be. My EBJD is also a punk that trys to be the tough guy.

Any other people have simular thing going with cichlids that are differant but seem to have teamed up or are friends?

All is quite predictable in my big tank. My male sev is the boss, and gently throws his weight around, reminding everyone else that he is king.
His missus, the two uaru and my two A.heckelii are all friends really. I'm actually delighted with how peaceful it is (at the moment !!)

On your comment about your uaru's fins ... mine were bought with very tattered fins and I am also finding them very, very slow to heal. With most fish, having two weeks of clean water and good food, with not being beaten up, I'd expect a very visible improvement in the fins, but there is no sign as yet.

I have some weird friend combinations, my large male Texas loves to help guard the sevs when they spawn. If any fights to start (usually the convicts) the red tailed black shark dives in and breaks it up, but then goes and hides under Jethro the plec  Bailey the royal acara is a meanie to Jethro too, he keeps picking up gravel and dropping it on Jethro's head?

My GT causes most trouble in my tank, predictably. She likes to wind Boris my Oscar up, proper liplocking at times. This is normally in the evening around feeding time and if they see us getting close to the tank. It's stupid because when the food goes in, Boris is right there at the top waiting to gobble anything dropped, whereas the GT hovers much lower  She doesn't go up to the top a lot as she's obviously wary of Boris. The Sevs go to the top, but Burt the Convict sensibly waits around the bottom for Boris to spit bits out  He's only weeny so appreciates the smaller bits.

I have no idea why the GT even bothers challenging Boris, as when he opens his gob it is HUGE and he isn't even fully grown! So she doesn't really want to keep winding him up, as when he gets bigger he could potentially put her head in his gob  It's all quite stupid. I am so undecided about her. She is such a b££$% but I grew her up from a tiddler and she's such a beautiful fish, and mostly during the day she behaves herself, but in the evenings when we are sitting down relaxing watching the thanks, she is playing silly b$%gers with Boris. That then winds him up and he tries to assert himself by chasing a Sev  The Sevs are definitely the peacemakers in the tank though. They are great.

Does anyone know how wide a fully grown Oscar's mouth is, as it's hard to imagine it getting any bigger :shout:

 must be a blue acara thing . mine was exactly the same . a real hard case...........unless the victim retaliated

I think it is a blue acara thing. They are punks not peaceful like many things I have read.
